Determination Is

It’s the 15th of August! Independence Day for India!

Freedom is you being you, me being me. The competition is only with ourselves, being better than we were the day before.

This post is dedicated to the power of never giving up. Determination for me is to never give up on my dreams.

Happy Independence Day India ♥

“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success, That is way great spiritual giants are produced.” Swami Vivekananda

The famous quote says it all. If we have a determination and willpower for one defined goal in life then nothing can stop us to achieve success. I believe that if you want to succeed at achieving your goals you must have self-determination. Without it, when you reach an obstacle or something holds you back, you may quit and never get past that barrier.

Other people have the power to help motivate you to try harder, but in the end, you need to be the one to have the determination, drive, and dedication to keep going and to continue fighting for your goals.

Your quest for success and happiness begins with the right intentions.

The determination means the firmness of purpose or intention.

Idea + Determination + Effort = Success.

Idea – Determination – Effort = Wishful thinking, fantasy.

Think of a baby learning to walk its first steps. The baby will learn and grow. The baby will get to the top of the steps. It’s not a matter of ‘if’… it’s only a matter of when. Be determined that attaining what you want is inevitable. Be determined in every small day to day activity.

I am steadfast. It’s the age-old tale of rabbit and tortoise. Slow and steady wins the race!

“We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.” ~Jesse Owens

How can we strengthen our resolve? How can we increase our ability to stay determined? Practice. Practice. Practice. The more you stick to it the more you will do it!

It’s that simple and that hard all at once.

The following factors strengthen your resolve.

  • Clear goals.
  • Knowledge and skills.
  • Self-esteem.
  • Positive mental attitude.
  • Courage.
  • Faith in yourself and God.
  • Self-motivation.
  • Visualizing the end.
  • Positive self-affirmations.
  • Supporting people.
  • Empowering thoughts and beliefs.

You can find your way through the most difficult situations. Determination does not mean you will be insensitive to the reality of the situation. A determined person is also an adaptable and flexible person. He is not interested in being tough for toughness sake, but to overcome obstacles and reach his goals. Hence, he remains open-minded about possibilities and opportunities but firm in his commitment and convictions.

Discipline and determination go together. If you have them, you become unstoppable.

  1. Love it, very uplifting. It’s odd how many people have the idea but won’t pursue it for whatever reason. I recently went to a family reunion, and found myself being laughed out for some of the things I’ve tried and failed at, but my wife came to my defense, and pointed out the successes I’ve had, that I’ve moved on into a much better situation than they were in, and I’m the one with the stories to tell. Kind of shut them p.
So you’re one hundred percent right. You have to take that idea and do something with it.
Just a thought, but how do you folks celebrate Independence Day in India. Over here, it’s with parades, (in Greeley we have a rodeo), cookouts, and of course, fireworks. How, and what customs do you have for it?

  2. Spot on insights. Attention to intention. Well formed theme developed with a solid action plan to illustrate execution. My only critique is perhaps a bit lenghty, considering the subject.
